Well, I haven't modified my FreeJava program for a long time, but now I'm really happy , because I made the new version!! The main feature is the full SQL support in editor and script running on outer database server. I tested it with old MySQL4.0.
Test it with these simple examples:
-download and run the setup of MySQL4.0. mysql-4.0.13-win.zip (18,1 MB)
-download and run Control Center setup of MySQL. mysqlcc-0.9.2-win32.zip (2,90 MB)
-download and copy mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable-bin.jar into FreeJava/sqldriver folder. mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable-bin.jar (207 KB)
-or download full mysql-connector package. mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable.zip (738 KB)

If you managed to install MySQL4.0 correctly, create a new database access (use control center) or use root user name and password to connect.
Run FreeJava, create new file, choose SQL tab, click on the Database checkbox and on this textbox [...] type the following:
-Database Driver: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
-Database URL: jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:3306/test (for test database)
-User: root
-Password:

Create a new file, click [Creating] Button and press F7 on keyboard to run all SQL command in file. If you select one or more SQL commands in text editor before pressing F7 key, then only selected commands will run.

I made several developments. One of them is a line counter. However, what I find the most essential is the automatic package support. You do not need to set a path to compile or to run the Java file. There is a possibility to remark the highlight text. The best of these options is the rapid text editor. Of course, if you don't like this option, you can turn it off in the "Options Edit" under tab.

One year has passed. What may a new one start with...? (guess with what?) With the new version of Free Java version!! :-) I created the structure panel in HTML, but with the multiuser mode (Options / other) you might need some help. It means that if the multiuser mode is turned on, the program setting files are saved and in the home directory of the actual user. Furthermore, when the program starts, it reads the settings from that given home directory. If the program directory includes Multiuser.properties file, this mode is automatically turned on. If you want other users not to change this option, you can modify the attribute of the file not readable / writeable.

Sorry, but the SUN modified the keyboard event handler. (Or is it a bug?) The KeyEvent Object getKeyChar() of the keyPressed method doesn't represent national characters (Alt Gr + character). [This problem appears in JRE1.4.1 version and in the later ones, except 1.4.1-b21.]
